FORMER Blockbusters presenter and Pinner resident Bob Holness died this morning.

The presenter, 83, died in his sleep at a nursing home after recently suffering from a series of strokes. He is survived by his wife Mary, three children and seven grandchildren.

South African-born Holness was best known for his ITV gameshow Blockbusters, which he presented from 1983 to 1993.

Holness continued to present the show for a short while when it was shown on Sky.

He also was a broadcaster for the BBC and presented channel’s panel gameshow Call My Bluff which he presented from 1996 until 2002.

Mr Holness attended the mayor's annual awards in 2005 with comedian Barry Cryer, who lived in Hatch End, where they both received received 50th anniversary trophies for long-standing service.

Along with Mr Cryer, he was patron of The West House and Heath Robinson Museum Trust, in Pinner.

The house in West End Lane exhibits the works of artist William Heath Robinson.
