Potters Bar Flower Club was delighted to welcome the return of a much-favoured demonstrator, Joyce Furssedon, with her theme of Images of Nature, earlier this month.
Her demonstration concentrated on the all powerful forces of nature over which man has little or no control and indeed, it was a different approach to floral art.
Each of her six designs depicted these forces so perfectly that members were enthralled at Joyce’s brilliant interpretation. The first of such designs was a seascape with blue/green foliage depicting the sweeping waves; second, a volcanic sceme with a piece of driftwood which uncannily resembled a volcano.
Erupting from it were tall fiery red plant materials and red and yellow roses representing flames; other designs depicted lightning, a rock fall and finally an iceberg — the latter being arranged on a perspex pyramid to give the effect of ice and decorated with ice cool roses and foliage in glorious shades of lime.
Joyce is a true professional and her clever use of flowers and plant material was excellent and very much enjoyed by the members, especially the lucky ones who took home one of the arrangements in the raffle. We do hope to see Joyce again very soon.
