PRIMARY schoolchildren in Shenley had a surprise 'royal' visit on Thursday, when William and Kate stopped in before their wedding for an afternoon of fun activities.
Wedding fever came a day early at Shenley Primary School, in London Road, when teaching assistant Lynne Wells and year three teacher Lora Grant dressed as the happy couple.
After parading through the school's grounds in a convertible car, the pair were then greeted by bowing and curtsying students.
Speaking just after the event, acting headteacher, Emma Cole, who had dressed as The Queen, said: “The day has been a wonderful success and a real community event.
“The children have been really excited all day. I hope they will remember how the school celebrated the royal wedding for years to come.”
Pupils partied in style with a day of activities, which included making their own bunting and flags, cake making, collage designing and even etiquette lessons.
And at lunchtime, the whole school gathered on the field for a giant picnic.
