HERTSMERE Borough Council has published details of all candidates nominated for local elections in May.

The 'Statement of Persons Nominated' for the borough council, town council and Aldenham Parish Council elections can be accessed via the council website, or hard copies are available at the civic offices in Elstree Way.

There are 13 seats up for election, out of a total of 39, for Hertsmere Borough Council, with two incumbents choosing not to re-stand.

Anita Gamble (Lib Dem, Bushey St James) will step down after eight years as a borough councillor.

She said: “I feel eight years is long enough. I've enjoyed some of it and found it very interesting, but I think I am past my sell-by-date and need to make room for younger people.”

The councillor added she would continue to be active within Bushey and wished her successor the best of luck.

Conservative councillor Darren Solomons (Borehamwood Brookmeadow), who was unavailable for comment, will also be standing down.

While Liberal Democrat group leader, Roger Kutchinsky has decided to challenge the Conservatives for a seat in the Bushey Heath area, meaning his current ward Bushey North will definitely be electing a new councillor.
