A TWIN town association trip to Germany will be celebrated at an event to be held next week to encourage new members to join the group.
The trip to Borehamwood’s twin town of Offenburg last month reached the town despite adverse weather conditions.
The group, as part of BETTA (Borehamwood and Elstree Twin Town Association), went to the town for a cultural and educational experience.
The aim of the association is to form connections with the area's twin towns including French town Fontenay-aux-Roses on the outskirts of Paris, and Offenburg in south-west Germany near Strasbourg.
The trip to Offenburg included a journey on a Eurostar train to Strasbourg and the group of 22 were forced to wait for their train following delays due to the snowy weather conditions.
Rex Dunwoody, membership secretary, said: “We will be serving Glühwein, which is a type of mulled wine, and there will be a German dinner and accordion music.
“We shall be looking at pictures from Germany and also the French teacher from Club Escargot will speak about her learning vision for the term.
“We are doing quite well with numbers but new members are welcome to join the group and learn about us at this evening.”
Entrance is £5 at the door for the event to be held next Wednesday at 7.30pm at Fairway Hall, in Brook Road, Borehamwood.
