A crowd of on-lookers gathered in Shenley Road last week when footage for a new series of Kavanagh QC was filmed.
The 30-second scene, part of a four-episode series which is being shot at Elstree Studios, took more than two hours to film. In that time many Friday afternoon shoppers had flocked to the Borehamwood location to see what was happening.
In the scene, star of the ITV show, John Thaw who plays James Kavanagh, is stuck in traffic while on his way to court with colleague Cathy Winslow, played by Rebecca Front. The pair are chatting and Kavanagh becomes irritated as a young driver pulls up next to them with loud music booming from his car.
A spokesman for the show said: "The scene was just of the inside of the car and will in fact be the first time we see Kavanagh once it is on our screens. It is only a very short scene but of course a lot of work goes into each one and they do take a long time.
"This is also the first time we have filmed the series at Elstree Studios and we will be out on location quite a bit. All the scenes set in the chambers are filmed in the studios on our set as well as a few others."
Residents will have to wait a whole year to see it on television -- it will not be screened until well into 1999.
