Health bosses hope around £1million a year will be freed for patient care by a shake-up in the way support services are provided in West Hertfordshire.
Four NHS trusts in the region -- including Mount Vernon & Watford Hospital -- say they have signed up Granada Healthcare to provide £16million worth of services annually, including catering, cleaning and portering at hospitals.
It is hoped £1million will be saved through economies of scale from October 31 this year. Transport services and estates management, the trusts say, will continue to be provided by in-house teams.
