Jack Sykes, Ridgehill Housing Association board member and tenants representative, died last week at the age of 75.
Mr Sykes, who lived in Fulton Court, Borehamwood, worked as a butcher in both Croxdale Road and Aycliffe Road until his retirement 12 years ago. He was a well-known and popular man, who among other roles, was at one time the chairman of Hertsmere's Chamber of Trade.
He had a heart of gold and was always keen to help others. This was reflected in the extensive work he undertook to represent housing association tenants.
Martina Weitsch, Ridgehill's chief executive, said: "I think I can speak for all the staff and board members when I say what a terrible shock it was to hear of Jack's death.
"Although he had only been a board member for a short time, he had been involved in tenant issues for some time before that, making a great contribution over the years."
