A BOREHAMWOOD man was assaulted after falling asleep on a tube train last month.

The 27-year-old victim, who was travelling with a friend, was assaulted by a man after falling asleep on the Metropolitan Line train between Harrow on the Hill and Northwood tube stations.

He and the friend were then chased by several other men and women as they attempted to flee at Northwood underground station.

Police are keen to speak with three men and two women in connection with the vicious assault at Northwood on the night of Sunday, July 12.

Detective Constable Keith McEwen, of British Transport Police, said: “The victim ran up the stairs from the station platform before being assaulted for a second time. The attacker smashed the victim’s mobile phone against a wall and stole a second phone out of his hand.

“A woman then threatened and spat at the victim before the group left the station.

“This was a vicious and prolonged attack and I would urge anyone who recognises any of the men and women pictured in the CCTV images to contact police.”

Anyone with any information to assist police is asked to contact 0800 40 50 40.
