Directed by Justin Chadwick (making his first feature film debut) and with a screenplay by Peter Morgan, The Other Boleyn Girl starred Natalie Portman as Anne Boleyn, Scarlett Johansson as Mary Boleyn and Eric Bana as Henry Tudor.

Peter Morgan adapted Philippa Gregory's 2001 novel (The Other Boleyn Girl) to write a screenplay which has been described as a "romanticised account" of the one-time mistress of King Henry VIII, Mary Boleyn, and her sister Anne Boleyn, who became Henry VIII’s ill-fated second wife.

The Other Boleyn Girl, which had a production budget of $35 million (source: www.boxofficemojo.com) was released in the UK during March 2008 and has reportedly taken at least $78,046,530 worldwide at the box office (source: www.boxofficemojo.com). The film has since been released on DVD and Blu-ray DVD.

I personally think these figures more than proves that Elstree Studios continues to be a major contributor to world-wide film & TV industry!

Incidentally, the UK Film Council has said that 2008 saw the highest box office takings since records began in 2002.
