Ways to cut energy bills and combat climate change will be discussed at an event this Monday.

The free event will be held at Hertsmere Borough Council's civic offices in Elstree Way, Borehamwood between 6-9pm.

Information stands on topics including energy efficiency, renewable energy, green transport, saving water, recycling and composting waste will be set up at the event. Energy and environmental advisors from the Energy Saving Trust will be on hand to answer any questions.

Councillor Jean Heywood, environment portfolio holder, said: "Everyone has no doubt heard of climate change but not everyone will know how they can help combat it.

"There are many things we can all do to lower our carbon emissions, from switching to energy efficient light bulbs to insulating our homes, which will reduce our impact on the environment and actually save you money.

"Everyone has a part to play and this event will help show residents and small businesses what they can do to reduce their own carbon footprints."

Diamond Oteghile, the county's Energy Saving Trust manager, said: "In the current financial climate, this is a fantastic time to both save money and help the environment. The event aims to help people get practical tips and suggestions on how to do this."
