I read, with interest, the letter from Mr R B Knott in last week's edition of the Borehamwood & Elstree Times, entitled 'Why did council scrap theatre?'.

Has it been scrapped? Will one of our councillors let us know?

Like Mr Knott, I shall be watching that site in Elstree Way and so will many other people.

In fact, every week when I visit our small and cramped library, I look at that site and mentally plan it.

A new concert hall, yes, and, very dear to my heart, a new and spacious library, benefiting a town of this size.

I have lived here for 47 years and always understood that that area was part of our civic site.

At the moment much of it is in a civic mess. The outside of the clinic and library is a disgrace.

I suggest all our councillors go down and have a look. Let's have some 'civic pride', and clear it up!

What a good idea to re-house our museum alongside a new library.

This was Stan Mason's suggestion in another recent letter in your paper another 'site watcher'.

There are some of us in Borehamwood who do care about the town, but are disillusioned with the way it is run.

So many opportunities have been missed. Perhaps our local paper could find out what is happening or is going to happen to that site?
