On this day in 2018, a 13-year-old girl from Shenley reached the grand final of a prestigious West End competition.

Lottie Mulcahy had successfully navigated her way through three rounds of the West End Calling contest, culminating in her performance at The Other Palace theatre in the heart of London.

Lottie entered the musical competition in October of the previous year and showcased her talent at the semi-final held at the Stockwell Playhouse in South London.

Her journey led her to the final, which was scheduled for May 27, where she would compete against 12 other singers in the junior final.

Each contestant was set to perform a song from a musical of their choice in front of a live audience and a panel of judges comprised of West End stars from renowned shows such as Wicked, Les Miserables, and Mamma Mia.
