Lidl has confirmed the opening date of its second supermarket in Borehamwood.

The budget chain will open its latest store in Elstree Way on Thursday December 8.

The finishing touches are being made to the branch, which will include a bakery, toilets and baby changing facilities and parking, with around 40 new jobs created.

The store will be open every day from 8am-10pm on Monday to Saturdays and from 10am-4pm on Sundays.

The former Dontatanio warehouse was demolished to make way for Lidl.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Mike Devine, said: “We have long been committed to investing in Borehamwood, to help boost the local economy and also to ensure as many people as possible have access to our multi-award-winning, high-quality products at affordable prices.

"We have received overwhelming support from local residents and would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this new store. We now look forward to opening our second store in the area just in time for Christmas and welcoming everyone through the doors.”

Earlier this year, Lidl relocated its first store in Borehamwood, swapping units in Borehamwood Shopping Park into a larger space.
