A fully refurbished “state-of-the-art gym” has officially opened to members at a leisure centre.

The ribbon on the new facility at The Venue in Elstree Way, Borehamwood, was cut by the mayor of Hertsmere Cllr John Graham at an event on October 1.

Hertsmere Borough Council, which owns The Venue, says the gym includes a range of new equipment including cardio machines, dual use resistance machines, a free weights area and a boxing functional area.

The project has also seen new flooring and air conditioning fitted.

Cllr Graham said: “I am delighted to open this excellent facility which no doubt is so important for the health and wellbeing of local residents, and has been greatly missed whilst undergoing refurbishment.

“Staying active is key to living a healthy lifestyle and with over 100 stations at this gym, there really is something for everyone.”

Barry Ellis, regional manager for InspireAll, which manages The Venue, added: “Thank you to all staff and customers who joined us to reopen the gym after its refurbishment. Feedback has been fantastic and everyone seems to be making the most of the new kit.

“The new air-conditioning is a great improvement and the launch of Costa to the Cafe at The Venue adds more for our visitors to enjoy.”
