An Indian takeaway is celebrating after being named the best in Hertfordshire.

Aroma in Radlett picked up one of the top regional awards at the glitzy Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards held at the O2 in London on October 2.

The Battlers Green Drive venue was commended for its tasty offering of Indian and Bangladesh food, with the UK’s very best in South Asian cuisine being recognised at the ceremony.

After the latest in a long line of awards, Aroma owner Humayun Rashid said: "I am greatly honoured to win this prestigious award hosted by Sky presenter Samantha Simmonds and musician Paul Martin. 

“We were actually to shocked to learn we had won but we were very excited.

“They said we were highly rated and that our food is excellent. It is all made fresh to order. It is a great honour to and we are really happy. It motivates us to keep going, the next goal is to win a national prize at these awards.

“Finally, thank you to all my staff for their hard work. Without them, we couldn’t do this, and thank you to our customers and my family as well.”

Aroma, which gave out countless free meals to NHS staff over the pandemic, was among 2,370 restaurants and takeaways in the UK to have been nominated.
