The 24th annual Elstree Film Evening, featuring guests from the movie industry, will take place in Borehamwood in June.

Looking back at 80 years of movies made in the town, the event will be held at Elstree Film Studios, in Elstree Way.Paul Welsh, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council entertainments officer, said: "This is a way of us celebrating our local talent, film and television heritage. "The BBC Elstree Concert band will be playing film and television music, and we will show film clips from old movies."Guests at the June 28 event will receive a free booklet about the history of Elstree and a DVD containing old movie trailers. The disc includes a scene with Alfred Hitchcock taking part in a sound test for the first British sound film, made at the studios."It's a sample DVD that gives people a flavour of what has happened in Elstree during the years, and the next idea will be to form all that into a more defined DVD, if time and money permit," said Mr Welsh."The town's heritage is fairly unique, so the event will hopefully appeal to film fans, residents, and people who may have worked at the studios at some point during their career. "It's just a nice evening out, having a trip down nostalgia lane and having a bit of fun."Tickets cost £10 and must be purchased in advance, as seating is limited. They can be purchased at Fairway Hall, Brook Close, Mondays to Thursdays from 8.45am to 3.45pm, or Fridays 8.45am to 12 noon. For more information contact 020 8207 1382.
