Sky has agreed a deal to move into a newly built logistics park in Borehamwood.

The television and film production company has signed a lease at Panattoni Park, which is next to the Sky Studios Elstree complex that is nearing completion.

Sky will move into two large buildings - one of which is due to be finished this month - totalling 300,000sq ft.

The deal sees the land return to its production roots, because from 1944 to 1977 it was owned by MGM and films such as Where Eagles Dare, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Dirty Dozen were produced there.

Most recently, the land was a Sainsbury's frozen food depot.

With UK Power Networks already operating from a third smaller building on the site in Elstree Way, it means Panattoni Park is now fully let.

There had been plans to construct a data centre on the site but this fell through.

Tony Watkins, development director at Panattoni, said: "Letting the space to a film production company is a first for us and reflects the breadth of occupier demand.

"There was strong competition for the space from other occupiers, which justifies the quality of the location and the fact the park is now fully let before practical completion."
