A councillor Borehamwood is to walk 48 miles around Hertsmere to raise money for five charities.
Brett Rosehill, who has been a Conservative councillor in Kenilworth ward since 2020, will take on a route called the Hertsmere Way.
Cllr Rosehill will be equally dividing the money he raises between five local charities - Sebby's Corner, which helps families with basic essentials, Borehamwood Foodbank, WD6 Food Support, Gratitude food bank, and Hertsmere Mencap, which supports people with learning difficulties.
He will be taking on the walk over two consecutive Sundays – August 21 and 28, taking in 48 miles altogether.
Cllr Rosehill, who has raised £1,200 so far, is set to be joined by family and friends for parts, including his eight-year-old daughter Chloe, who has donated some of her pocket money to the cause.
Cllr Rosehill said: “As councillors, we get money that is assigned to us that we can donate but I want to do something where I am personally giving back to the community.
"The Hertsmere Way runs round the inside boundary of Hertsmere borough, using public rights of way where possible, and divided into several walkable sections.
“I have done various charity walks for Parkinson’s UK but I wanted to do something for five excellent local charities especially at a time where there is such a need for them. It is an honour to raise money for them on their behalf.
“I just want to raise as much money as I possibly can. I’m hoping to reach £2,500.”
