Armed police have been searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed in Borehamwood this morning (July 23).

The man was attacked at around 8.30am at an address in Haggerston Road.

Police have confirmed he has been taken to hospital. His injuries have been described as not life-threatening.

No further details have been issued about the victim at this time but police believe he is known to his attacker.

The stabbing sparked a large police response in the Aycliffe Road area of the town, with armed officers seen patrolling and searching streets and parks.

A helicopter has also been circling overhead while officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

In an update issued at around 3pm on the incident, police confirmed no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "Whilst no arrests have been made at this time, we would like to reassure the community extensive searches of the area and other inquiries are taking place and there will be an increased presence in the area during this time.

"The suspect and victim are known to each other and this is believed to be an isolated incident."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
