A person had money stolen from their bank account after their card was trapped in a cash machine.

Police believe a device was inserted into an ATM in Watling Street in Radlett which prevented the card from being returned as normal.

At 7.45am on Saturday July 2, a man in his 40s was using the Tesco cash machine in Radlett when the cashpoint retained their card. Police say £500 was later withdrawn from the account.

PC Ash Oakshott said: “The card was then most likely retrieved by the offender and used in another ATM shortly afterwards.

“We’d like to speak to the person pictured as we believe they were in the area at the time and could have vital information.

“If you recognise them, or have information yourself, please get in touch by calling 101 quoting crime reference 41/43724/22.”

It comes amid police warnings of fraudsters tampering with cash machines after 14 offences were reported in Hertfordshire during June.
