LEEDS United are closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, a move that would end their interest in reported Albion target Mohamed Camara.

The Seagulls have been linked with a move for the Salzburg man as a potential replacement for Yves Bissouma, who have left the club in favour of a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

It had been widely reported that Leeds and Albion would be going head to head for the signature of Camara, but now according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Yorkshire side are close to sealing a deal for Adams.

The American midfielder will undergo a medical this week and will be seen as the replacement for Kalvin Phillips, who has joined Premier League champions Manchester City on a six-year deal. It is believed that Leeds will pay a fee of £19.7 million in order to sign him from the German club.

The Argus has previously been told Camara is someone they are "aware of but nothing more at this stage".

Camara is desperate for a new challenge and had been released by Mali at the end of June from international duty to help him find a new club.

Salzburg are keen to sort a deal out for Camara soon, but the news that Leeds will not be in the race for him will affect the kind of fee that they are looking for.

With one less team in the running, it will impact the chances of Salzburg being able to conduct a bidding war for the player in order to drive up his price.
