The president of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) received a tour of Borehamwood's film studios earlier this month.

Timothy Crawshaw made visits to Elstree Studios, the BBC Elstree Centre, and Sky Studios which is due to open later this year.

Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr John Graham said: "It was an honour to welcome the RTPI President, Tim Crawshaw, to the borough of Hertsmere and showcase the amazing developments underway in the creative industries.

“TV and film production has a bright and exciting future locally, which is earmarked to generate thousands of new jobs and bring huge investment to our borough.

“As an example of that, I was delighted to be able to accompany Tim and other members of the RTPI around the Platinum Stages, which are nearing completion and mark a new era for the council-owned Elstree Studios.”

Mr Crawshaw, who also visited Hatfield House, added: "My visit to the East of England was an inspirational example of planners working to secure great outcomes in a challenging context.

"Whether experiencing the blend of cutting edge sustainability and traditional approaches to building around Hatfield House or the rapid and efficient delivery of new film studios in and around Borehamwood in Hertsmere, the work of professional planners was evident on the ground."
