A contractor has been appointed to undertake improvements at a stadium in Borehamwood.

Approved plans at the LV Bet Stadium, home to Boreham Wood FC and Arsenal's women's team and development squad, include the construction of a new matchday fan zone.

Other work due to take place at the Meadow Park site includes an outside broadcast TV compound, and improvements to car parking and for spectators getting in and out of the ground.

Griggs Commercial has been selected to carry out work at the stadium which holds just over 4,000 people. The project is expected to be completed in time for the start of the new season, which begins in August.

Director Ross Griggs said: "We have a long standing relationship with Boreham Wood FC and are delighted to be able to continue this. Its chairman Danny Hunter has invested significantly over a number of decades to ensure the long-term success of what is our local club, including securing the partnership with Arsenal Women FC and Arsenal FC.

"As locals ourselves, we look forward to being able to enjoy the new look facilities alongside other fans for the 2022/23 season."
