A 20-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in Borehamwood last night (April 29).
The injured victim approached officers for help just after 8.10pm in the Aycliffe Road area of the town.
Police say he had been stabbed in the stomach and an emergency call was put in for more officers to attend.
Photos and video on social media showed several police units, including armed response vehicles, parked in Aycliffe Road, near the junction with Rossington Avenue, and the road was shut off.
The victim was given treatment before being transported to hospital. His current condition is unclear at this time.
Police have confirmed a 20-year-old man from Islington in north London has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
As part of enquiries, police are working to establish exactly where the stabbing occurred.
Detective Sergeant Katie Stevens, who is investigating, said: "At this stage, it is unclear as to the exact location of the incident and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened to please contact us."
