A motorist sustained life-changing injuries before a man was arrested after an alleged attack on the M25 yesterday (Monday).
Emergency services including an air ambulance were sent to the entry slip road for junction 23 after reports of an assault just after 3.30pm.
This morning police confirmed he was seriously injured and a man was later arrested on suspicion of GBH.
He is currently still in custody.
The South Mimms junction was closed to allow an air ambulance to land which caused hours of tailbacks towards junction 21 for the M1 by Bricket Wood.

The M25 will be fully closed at South Mimms to enable an air ambulance to land and transport an injured motorist to hospital.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers and paramedics attended and closures were put in place while emergency services worked at the scene, including enquiries to establish the circumstances around the incident.
“The road was reopened at around 6pm.
“The injured man was taken by road ambulance to hospital and is believed to have life changing injuries.
“A man was later arrested on suspicion of GBH and is currently in police custody.”
