A cyclist is seriously injured in hospital after he was discovered lying in a road in Borehamwood.

Emergency services were called to Leeming Road late on Wednesday March 2 after receiving a call from a member of the public.

The call, which came in at around 11.50pm, reported a cyclist was in the road near the roundabout with Gateshead Road.

The cyclist, who is aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police say he remains in hospital.

A police investigation has been launched to work out how the collision occurred with officers appealing for witnesses and information.

Sergeant Nicholas Kane, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit, said: "We are working to establish exactly how this collision occurred and are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time, who witnessed either the collision itself or the events leading up to it, to please get in contact.

"I would be especially keen to hear from you if you have a dashcam fitted to your vehicle. Please review the footage as a matter of urgency and send through anything you believe may be of significance."
