Hertsmere Borough Council is conducting a review of a number of its polling stations and is seeking resident’s views.

The review will help the council decide which polling districts and polling places will be used in future elections.

Around 50 locations are currently used in Hertsmere for constituents to cast votes on election day including village and church halls, schools and community centres.

The review focusses on eight polling places within the borough that had a polling station change during the May 2021 elections because of Covid regulations.

These polling stations are in Bushey North, Bushey St James, Bushey Park, Borehamwood Brookmeadow, Borehamwood Cowley Hill, and Shenley wards.

A nine-week consultation is running from January 31 until April 1 with residents invited to give their views on those eight polling stations.

Sam Langford, Hertsmere Borough Council's electoral services manager, said: "We would like as many local voters within the wards listed to take part in this review. To ensure our polling stations are open and accessible to all, we want to hear residents view on how they found the new polling station during the last election.

"Obviously there is no such thing as a purpose-built polling station and we have to adapt and make use of a large number of different venues, which are made available to us. However, we want to do all we can to ensure accessibility issues have been fully considered, as well as location and safety.

"Please take the time to complete the survey. Your views are important to us."

The online survey can be found at www.hertsmere.gov.uk/PSR

Final recommendations on the review will take place in November 2022 and any changes will be in place for elections in 2023.

There are no elections scheduled to take place in Hertsmere this year.
