Eight people have been sentenced for stealing in Watford since November – with items nabbed ranging from £1,500 of skincare products to a YO! Sushi tip jar.

Court documents revealed many more have denied theft charges and not yet had their cases heard while others have had theirs dismissed.

Sentenced for stealing in Watford

Victoria Evans, of Charter Place in Watford, stole two bottles of champagne and 10 chocolate bars worth £80 from Co-op. 

She also nabbed a scooter, Nurofen tablets and a gift set from B&M worth £69.88.

In September the 37-year-old stole a woman's parcel containing glass terrarium, and laundry detergents and milkshakes worth £45.10 from McColl's.

She pleaded guilty and on November 30 was jailed for 24 weeks as it happened while she was serving a suspended sentence.

Gary Smith, 59, of Exchange Road in Watford, admitted stealing a £653.80 Air Wave Radio from Polaris Ambulance Service on February 2 last year.

He was sentenced at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on December 17 and ordered to pay £630.77 compensation, a £34 victim services surcharge and £50 costs – taking the total to £714.77.

Ion Dajbog, 46, of Orange Hill Road in Edgware, stole £609.87 of clothing from TK Maxx on October 16, 2021.

He pleaded guilty and on November 16 was ordered to pay £239 – including a £120 fine.

Ashley Harvey, 35, of Charter Place in Watford, stole a tip jar of unknown value belonging to YO! Sushi on November 3.

After pleading guilty he was discharged conditionally and ordered to pay £62 on December 3.

Valentin Marin, of Monmouth Road in Edmonton, took £1,477.87 of skincare products from Boots in Waterfields Retail Park on November 25.

He pleaded guilty the following day and was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

The 51-year-old had already been jailed for 30 weeks in July after he stole £3,100 of perfume and £618 of make-up from a Boots in Kent during three raids.

Steven Negus, 59, of Stretton Way in Borehamwood, stole £1,455 of clothes from Flannels on October 30.

He pleaded guilty on November 30 and was fined £27, as well as ordered to pay a £34 victim services surcharge and £85 costs.

Darren Lane, 47, of Whippendell Road in Watford, stole a Braun beard trimmer and two Paco Rabanne fragrances worth £262 from Next on August 30, 2021.

He admitted the theft on November 23 and was ordered to pay £194 – including a £120 fine.

A 13-year-old boy falsely claimed to be fundraising in Watford on February 10 last year for a boxing club while intending to pocket the money.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also stole a pedal bike on the same day.

On December 1 he pleaded guilty and was referred to a youth offender panel for three months. He was also deprived of his rights to £157.16 cash.
