Police were forced to use "tactical contact" to stop a car whose driver went the wrong way down a road to evade officers in Borehamwood.
The Volkswagen - which had been reported stolen – was brought to a halt in Elstree Way after failing to stop for police in Rowley Lane at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, January 11.
Officers say the driver went the wrong way down Elstree Way prompting them to take decisive action to protect others on the road.
Photos uploaded by the road policing unit showed one of its vehicles managed to bring the runaway car to a halt by the BP petrol station.

- An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and possession of drugs. He remains in police custody at this time.
- A 17 year old girl was released under investigation while enquiries continue.
