Police say a man has been taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds after he was found injured in Borehamwood in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called to Stratfield Road in the town at around 4.30am (October 12) following reports a man had been injured.

He has been taken to hospital where his condition has been described as serious but stable.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says a woman has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A police cordon has been in place where the man, aged in his 30s, was found injured. Police have confirmed the man was found near Worcester House, which is a block of flats.

An officer leading the investigation says the incident is being treated as "isolated".

Detective Sergeant Richard Hooley, from the local crime unit, said: "A woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances around what happened and to trace anyone else involved. If you have any information which may assist the investigation, please get in touch with police straightaway.

"I understand news of this incident will cause concern among the local community, but I would like to try and reassure people that we believe this be an isolated incident. Officers remain in the area, so please do speak with them if you are worried."
