A dog has died after it was attacked by another dog in Borehamwood, police have said.

Police have also confirmed a German Shepherd has been seized after investigating reports of a dog attack in the town this morning.

Officers were called to Hackney Close, on the Farriers Way estate, just before 8.45am (August 27).

A small dog had sustained serious injuries and subsequently died.

It is the second dog attack in Borehamwood this week following an incident on Wednesday. Police are linking both incidents.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has confirmed, following enquiries, a German Shepherd has been seized and that a 52-year-old man has been arrested under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Inspector Gemma Badat said: "We received several calls this morning from residents who were understandably concerned and upset by what had happened.

"Officers have been in the area for much of today and our enquiries are still on-going.

"The dog believed to be involved has been seized and a man has been arrested in connection with this incident and another incident which occurred on Wednesday (August 25) where it was reported that a dog had attacked another dog causing significant injuries and injuring a member of the public in the process.

"We’re aware of comments on social media about the circumstances surrounding these incidents and as an arrest has been made would politely request that people refrain from speculating on public forums."
