A bus route will begin serving a hospital and business park from this weekend.
Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed the 324 bus extension will come into force tomorrow (Saturday August 28).
Following "overwhelming support" shown in a public consultation earlier this year, the route will terminate at Centennial Park in Elstree rather than at Stanmore station.
As well as serving Centennial Park, the new route also provides new travel links for patients and staff at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Brockley Hill in Stanmore.
The 324 service - which until Saturday has been operating between Brent Cross and Stanmore station - will continue to run every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evenings, every day of the week.
The service will also provide new links for customers to the Jubilee line at Stanmore station.
Route 107, which runs along part of the forthcoming 324 extension, will continue to run as normal between Edgware and New Barnet, stopping at the hospital.
The video below shows the 324 bus taking a journey along the extended route, from Stanmore to Elstree, and then back to Stanmore, where it will then continue its normal line of route to Brent Cross.
Deputy mayor for transport in London, Heidi Alexander, said: "The local community were overwhelmingly positive about the proposed extension to bus route 324, so it’s great to see it launch this weekend.
"The extension will hugely improve transport links for patients and staff at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, and benefit commuters including those who work at Centennial Business Park."
A Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust spokesperson said: "The RNOH Trust are delighted to have worked collaboratively with TfL, to help improve the 324 bus service
"Access is a critical issue for our patients, whether they live locally or are travelling to us from further afield.
"The extended bus service also supports our staff to be able to get to and from work more easily, and to make the shift to public transport at a time when we are considering as an organisation how we can further reduce our carbon footprint."
