England fans will lob £1.2 million worth of beer during England's Euro 2020 semi-final tonight, experts have predicted.

More than 6.8 million pints of beer will be purchased during the match, according to the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA), with over five per cent estimated to be thrown in celebration or frustration.

With the average pint costing £3.69, the overall value comes to an eye-watering £1,291,500 - or roughly six weeks' worth of wages for England captain Harry Kane.

Financial experts Raisin UK, which has made the prediction, said 350,000 pints are predicted to be flung, but the figure will rise by up to 50,000 per goal scored.

It means that over half a million pints could fly through the air if the England team recreate the four goals scored during the quarter-final against Ukraine.

The England squad was seen spending the night at The Grove Hotel on the outskirts of Watford ahead of the crunch match after travelling down from their St George’s Park base in the Midlands.
