A commemorative bench has been installed in Borehamwood dedicated to all of the key workers in the area.
Town mayor Farida Turner was joined by councillors and members of Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue on Wednesday to mark the "very unique and special occasion".
The bench, which has been placed near the Borehamwood War Memorial is in honour of key workers who have worked - and continue to work - during the pandemic.
Cllr Turner said: "We hope this bench will be a constant reminder of how much we owe to the amazing key workers who have unstintingly given so much of themselves to help others during the crisis.
"I would like to quote a gentleman’s words of 81 years ago – 'Never was so much owed by so many to so few' – thank you, Winston Churchill."
The bench, which includes the words 'Thank you', has been funded by Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council, and it will be maintained by the town council.
It sits opposite a bench that was installed last year by the council and the Royal British Legion to commemorate the 75-year anniversary of the ending of World War Two.
