The foundations for a bandstand in the park have been laid with the final structure to be installed in the coming days and weeks.
The bandstand will become a new entertainment venue in Meadow Park in Borehamwood, providing a home for concerts, and a performance area for the whole community, according to the leader of Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council, Pat Strack.
The town council received permission earlier this year from Hertsmere Borough Council to build a bandstand.
Recently, members of the project committee, including Cllr Strack, Andrew Grady from Borehamwood Brass, and Nick Male were joined by the presidents of two of the rotary clubs, Clive Butchins and Victor Eni on the bandstand site in Meadow Park.
Local rotary clubs worked in collaboration with the town and borough councils to make this venue a reality.
Cllr Strack said: "Thanks to the members of the committee, especially Norman Shuker and Andrew Grady, who have worked tirelessly with the contractors building the structure, plus the running of several proof-of-concept concerts showing the need for such a facility."
It is hoped that the summer season of proposed concerts can go ahead.
The bandstand will be built at a cost of £60,000 and will be entirely funded by the town council.
The funding has come from the council's community infrastructure levy pot (CIL) - money which has come via developers to help fund local infrastructure.
As of March 31 this year, town council accounts show the CIL fund stood at £287,693.
Once the bandstand is built, the borough council will be responsible for its maintenance and upkeep.
