The new Executive members and their responsibilities at Hertsmere Borough Council have been formally announced.

Leader of the council, Councillor Morris Bright, who is responsible for membership of the Executive group and the allocation of portfolio responsibilities, made the announcement at a full council meeting on Wednesday May 19.

The latest committee is made up of eight councillors, with deputy leader Caroline Clapper switching to a new role for her, leading on property and economic development in Hertsmere.

She had been the portfolio holder for leisure, culture and health, but this has been taken on by colleague Councillor Meenal Sachdev, who will also lead on community related responsibilities.

Councillor John Graham has stepped down the from the committee, and in the process, become the new deputy mayor of Hertsmere.

Cllr Graham was in charge of finance. He has been replaced by Cllr Abhishek Sachdev.

Cllr's Bright, Seamus Quilty, Harvey Cohen, Pervez Choudhry, and Jean Heywood retain their responsibilities in communications and consultations, environment, planning, community safety and performance, and housing and transport respectively.

Cllr Bright said: "I am pleased to announce the make-up of the new Executive group and the councillors who will be leading the services we provide for the people of Hertsmere.

"We are an ambitious council committed to delivering great services and improvements for the people of Hertsmere. Rightly we have focused on supporting our communities through the pandemic over the past year, but we still have lots that we want to achieve.

"As we emerge from the pandemic, there will be new challenges ahead. Together the new Executive group will be working hard to respond to these."
