Several roads in Watford and the surrounding area are set to be temporarily closed from today for roadworks.

The closures are detailed in a notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer and will affect roads in Watford, Borehamwood and Abbots Langley.

A section of Riverside Road, Watford, is due to be closed from today for utility works, as and when directed by signs.

The road will be shut from its junction with Colne Avenue to the junction with Silk Mill Road and the one.network website states the works are set to last until next Friday.

An order has also been approved for the temporary closure of two sections of Watford Field Road, except for access, and to also enforce waiting restrictions while the works are carried out.

The parts of the road that will be affected are from a point 167 metres north-east of its junction with Tucker Street north-westwards for a distance of approximately 47m, and from a point 78m south-west of the junction with Lower High Street north-westwards and south-westwards for a distance of approximately 120m.

This order comes into force on Monday and will last for up to 18 months, but the works will only take place at times indicated by signs on or near the road.

Another temporary closure order set to start from Monday is in Tempsford Avenue, Borehamwood, but the restrictions will again only apply when shown on signs.

This closure will be from the junction with Howard Drive north-eastwards to the junction with Newark Green, a distance of approximately 424m.

The following day another temporary closure is set to start in Loates Lane, Watford, for water service connection works, which will last until next Friday according to one.network.

Utility works mean a 35m section of Victoria Passage, Watford, from its junction with A4178 Cassio Road, is set to tempoarily close under an order that takes effect on Wednesday.

However, access to properties will be maintained where possible and, again, the work will only be carried out at times signposted.

This also applies to another order due to take effect on Wednesday for the temporary closure of Old House Lane, Abbots Langley, for more utility works.

Vehicles will be prevented from using the road from its junction with Bucks Hill north-westwards for a distance of approximately 535m, except for access.
