A DRUG dealer with more than 100 previous convictions to his name has been jailed for six years and four months.

Michael Younger, 38, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine after being caught with the drugs in his mouth in Harrison Street, Barrow.

On March 8, an officer from Cumbria Police spotted Younger acting suspiciously and stopped him in the street.

Younger spat the drugs out onto the ground and the officer also found a mobile phone and £155 cash in his socks.

Preston Crown Court heard Younger, of Steamer Street, Barrow, has 104 previous convictions including three for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

In January 2018 he was jailed for five years but was released on licence shortly before being caught again.

On that occasion he was found in possession of 88 wraps of crack by police officers when he was arrested at Ewan Close on Christmas Day in 2017.

The court heard when he was freed from prison he had nowhere to live and no income so lived on the streets, as he did not want to put his elderly parents at risk.

He returned to drug use and began dealing to fund his own habit, the court heard.

Judge Simon Newell, sentencing, said: “You well know from your experience of these courts that dealing in class A drugs on a street level only brings with it one sentence.

“It has to be imprisonment and it has to be imprisonment for some time.

“This is your fourth offence.

“I am told you have had difficulties since your release but the extent of your dealing is probably best represented by the money found in your possession.”
