A suspect drove their vehicle towards police after officers attempted to speak to them about reports of criminal behaviour.

The Met says a vehicle was driven towards officers before colliding with a police car during an incident in Green Avenue in Mill Hill last week.

Police were called to the street, near Apex Corner on January 28.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called at approximately 3.30pm on Thursday January 28 to reports of anti-social behaviour and possible drug offences in a car park on Green Avenue, NW7.

"Officers attended and attempted to speak with the occupants. The suspect’s vehicle was driven towards officers before colliding with the police car and being driven away."

MPS Barnet tweeted to say one of its officers sustained minor injuries.

The force added in a tweet that the MPS Barnet tweeted the incident was a "display of the dangers officers face everyday".

Police later found the vehicle that had fled the scene in Green Avenue abandoned nearby and seized suspected cannabis from inside it.

The Met says following a search of the area, a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault on police, criminal damage (to the police vehicle), possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated taking and driving away, dangerous driving and breach of Covid regulations.

He has been released under investigation.
