Three people have been taken to hospital after two cars were wrecked when they crashed head on.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says police were called around 7.30am this morning (January 28) to reports of a collision in Mutton Lane, between South Mimms and Potters Bar.

A black BMW and a silver Prius were involved – photos published by the Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire road policing unit shows the cars crashed head on.

One photo shows the front of both cars destroyed following the crash.

The ambulance service and fire service were also called to the scene.

Three people were taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life changing or life threatening at this time, police said.

The road is currently closed to allow for vehicle recovery.
