SOUTHEND United boss Mark Molesley is keen for his side to emulate their opponents this weekend.

Mansfield Town head to Roots Hall on Saturday having worked their way out of the relegation zone after securing four successive wins.

And Molesley would love to see the bottom of the table Shrimpers do likewise.

“It just shows you can get yourself clear after a good run and we want to try and recreate what they’ve done,” said Molesley.

“It’s another tough game for us against an in-form team who have plenty of threats to worry about.

“But we’ve shown we’re up for the battle and the challenge.”

Mansfield now sit 14th in the standings, eight points above the drop zone.

And Molesley has been impressed by the job Nigel Clough has done since replacing ex Blues coach Graham Coughlan as manager.

“Their new manager needs no introduction and he’s really turned it around,” said the 39-year-old.

“They’ve got a vastly experienced squad and some very good players.

“But, after Tuesday’s defeat, we need to show a quick reaction just like we did after the Leyton Orient game.”
