A suspected shoplifter has been charged after he allegedly spat at three officers in Swanley.
Michael Leahy, of Oliver Road, Swanley in north Kent, was arrested on Friday, January 15, on suspicion of theft.
Kent Police patrols had attended the Co-op on London Road following a report that fourteen bottles of wine had been stolen.
Now in custody, Mr Leahy, aged 57, was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.

There, it is alleged that he spat at to police officers.
Back at the police stations, the Swanley man allegedly spat at a third officer.
Michael Leahy was later charged with theft and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
He was bailed to appear before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.
