SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat to Cambridge United at Roots Hall.

Where are the goals that keep us up going to come from? We MUST get a seasoned target man in this window.

@jervetheswerve1

Such a good first half but the quality that has seen Cambridge riding high up the league shone through in the second

@ShrimpersTalk

Jekyll and Hyde performances by both teams with the team with the wind behind them dominating in that half. Only real difference was that Cambridge took their chances & we only took one, when really we should have been 2-0 up at half time. Still stuck on the bottom therefore!

@tommyharris57

A good performance against a side that now sit top of the table, if we can emulate Cambridge's clinical finishing we'll be fine.

@SteveShelsher

I think we have enough about us to stay up. What worries me is curtailment of the season on PPG...

@rootshall1992

Looked good after 45 minutes, but hard to tell if we just played poorly in the second half or that wind was so bad that only being 1-0 up at half-time was actually below par. Can tell it's bad when really hope National League void the season at their meeting.

@Moorhouse79

Looked a decent team in the first half, but fell apart after half time. We are still in the mix, so won't give up just yet. We have gone from meek and mild to aggressive and confrontational.

@molyneux_dave

It's a cliché, but real game of two halves, in this case wind assisted halves. We missed two big chances in the first half and they ended up being key. We need to be more clinical up front and need another striker to help us get there.

@shrimperlee

Hard to see the real impact of the wind watching on stream but it’s clear that we lack a real finisher, someone to play with Akinola. White and Hobson had a poor night and I’d much prefer Clifford AND Hart to start. McCormack is being too much a caricature of his reputation!

@Bluntswood

Sad to see we ended the game just pumping the ball up to the well marshalled strikers we need to get a starting midfield to name itself, this can happen as the last month has shown. The players need to learn from this starting saturday.

@phillsilver9

A very frustrating night for the Blues. We had enough chances to win this game. We have made big improvements in defence and midfield. Unfortunately our ongoing problem is a lack of goals. After 23 games we have scored just 15 goals. It is NOW a priority to sort out this problem.

@Johnfrench52Sky

No need for panic. Cliche but a real game of two halves with us being punished for our sloppiness and not taking our chances. More than matched Cambridge and shows how far we’ve come in a ‘free hit’ game. Just had that little bit of quality. Next two games massive!

@wheeliosmaximus

Still hope of escape... a great escape if you will! We have to push on, two home games now where we have got to pick up points. I’m confident, seeing as players like Kyle Taylor are back, that this team has what it takes to muster an escape. Mark Moseley can be the man to do it!

@adamevans1011

Not a bad performance but I’m concerned that we will find ourselves short of players when the likes of Hart, Macca and JD get their inevitable red cards. Hart seems up for every handbag opportunity. Acquah should not even be a consideration.

@BryanGOBsmacked

Think it showed how much we miss Olayinka. Was a very disciplined first half performance but the early goal in the second half killed us off and we never really got going. Need a target man up top who can finish. Cmon Blues second half of the season to finish strong.

@BlueBurger88

Surprised at line up. There's resting players and there's bottom of the League, every point counts. That said, played our direct way well and thoroughly deserved the lead. In the end, that bit of extra quality counted but shows how far we've come this year. Bring on Mansfield!

@Joniboy1976

Need another striker and quick statistics don’t lie 15 goals so please, before it’s too late... overall game of two halves, just did not take our chances....

@alan_bakewell

Must take their chances when they come along. Should have been out of sight in first half.
