Hertfordshire along with the rest of England was placed into lockdown in November following a rise of coronavirus cases.

This lasted throughout the month, with people having to stay at home. People could exercise outdoors or visit an outdoor public place.

A day before the restrictions came into place, some people in Watford visited the town centre for one last chance to go to the pub or visit a restaurant.

As a whole - especially compared to parts of London like Oxford Circus which was crammed with last minute thrill-seekers - residents in Watford appeared to not cause issues.

New Co-op opens

A new Co-op food store opened its doors in London Road in St Albans in November.

It came after a £615,000 investment which has created 14 jobs.

The store runs on 100 per cent renewable electricity and includes a customer car park and in-store bakery.

‘Mr Christmas' dies night before final lights switch-on

Dave Edwards, commonly known as 'Mr Christmas’, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

The heart of Christmas in the Watford and Croxley community was fighting his cancer to see a final Christmas decoration switch-on.

Mr Edwards has been the pinnacle of Christmas cheer after holding eye-catching festive decorations and lights for the past 42 years at Lancing Way, Croxley Green.

Two schools unite

Two leading independent schools made history by announcing both boys and girls will learn together as one on the same campus.

Despite being based on the same 100 acre site in Elstree for more than 40 years, Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls and The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School have worked separately.

But this announcement to provide single sex education in a co-educational 'single campus' is part of an ambitious ten year redevelopment plan which will see the schools united under one shared vision for the first time in their history.
