A Post Office branch has reopened at a new location after an extended delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The branch at Kenton Lane has reopened and relocated a few doors away to News Express at 217 Kenton Lane, with significantly extended opening hours.

The previous branch was closed on April 6 and the relocation was meant to happen much earlier, but due to the pandemic affecting necessary training of the new Postmaster and staff, it was put on hold.

Now the branch opened yesterday (September 28) and it is open from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 11pm.

With the earlier opening times and later closing times, there will be an extra 66 hours of service than the original Kenton Lane branch.

Jason Collins Post Office regional change manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
