The police helicopter was called in to search for someone who was seen running away from a crash on the M25.
Police were called to reports of a collision on the motorway in London Colney yesterday (Sunday).
There were two vehicles involved, police said.
When officers attended the crash, they were told someone had made off, and a search of the area was carried out, which included the helicopter hovering over London Colney.
The M25 was even closed in both directions between j21A and j23 to allow police dogs to work safely.
Traffic officers also warned locals of an increased police presence.
We have now lifted the closure but you may see an increased police presence in the London Colney area. @StAlbansPolice @BCHPoliceDogs @NPASSouthEast @HertsmerePolice @HighwaysSEAST https://t.co/LHibah6nKM
