Oliver Dowden paid a visit to a village green to show his support to keeping it where it is.
Hertsmere's MP met campaigners, including members of the Woodcock Hill Village Green committee, in Borehamwood last Friday.
Woodcock Hill landowner Taylor Wimpey has been consulting with residents about proposals to deregister the land as a village green.
Nearly 3,500 people have signed a petition which will be delivered to the government which the committee hope will prove how unpopular Taylor Wimpey's proposal is.

Mr Dowden says he has written to the Secretary of State, the person who will decide whether Woodcock Hill can be deregistered, to register his opposition to the landowner's proposal.
Following his visit to Woodock Hill, Mr Dowden said: "Many constituents have been in touch with me over recent weeks and I know there is great strength of feeling on the issue.
"Woodcock Hill is a wonderful green space in Borehamwood that I have visited many times since becoming the MP for Hertsmere, including as part of Mitzvah Day and even planting trees as part of the Queen’s Commonwealth canopy project and an Extinction Rebellion tree.
"I always say that one of the greatest pleasures of living in our part of Hertfordshire is the countryside we have right on our doorstep, it makes our towns and villages distinct and special places to live.
"Protecting the green belt remains a key priority of mine. It is vital that we preserve our green spaces which surround Hertsmere’s towns and villages creating distinct communities and prevent ugly, unsustainable urban sprawl.
"I have written to the Secretary of State to register my opposition to Taylor Wimpey’s proposal, and I have responded to their consultation."

Taylor Wimpey told the Times earlier this month that it "understands the concerns" raised as it prepares an application for the deregistration and exchange of the village green .
Taylor Wimpey says its proposals include the creation of a new, improved and larger area of village green land adjacent to the existing village green.
But town councillor Sandra Parnell, who is a member of the village green committee, said earlier this month she "will fight to her last breath" to keep Woodcock Hill where it is adding what Taylor Wimpey is offering is "absolutely what we (the committee) don't want".
A consultation seeking residents' views on the proposal closed on July 24.
Taylor Wimpey is expected to submit a formal application to the Secretary of State to deregister the land this summer.
