Time is running out to bid for a signed portrait of Hornets legend Luther Blissett and other items of Watford FC memorabilia to help raise money for charities in the town.
An online auction is being held for the Watford Covid-19 appeal and it contains items donated in a Big Bold Community Quiz last month when Mayor Peter Taylor and Mr Blissett were joined by members of the Hornets’ 1984 FA Cup final team and Graham Taylor’s daughter, Karen Colley.
The Big Bold Community Auction is due to close at 9pm on Sunday, June 7 and was on track to raise at least £2,800 at the time of writing.
Bidding for the portrait of Mr Blissett, which is signed by Watford’s record goalscorer and the artist, Watford MP Dean Russell, was at £800, while a top bid of £500 had been received for the 1984 FA Cup final tie donated by the Hornets’ captain at Wembley Les Taylor.
That amount was also the top bid for Graham Taylor’s personal Watford yearbooks from 1979 to 2001, while a poster of the Hornets’ greatest manager was £250.
