Tributes have been paid to The Horse Trust's head groom Angie Andrews, who sadly died this month.

Angie died on May 18 after bravely battling cancer and was lovingly described as the "heart and soul" of the Speen charity.

She had worked at the Trust as head groom longer than any other staff member and had been there for 20 years until she passed away.

In memory of Angie and her dedication to the Trust, which runs a home of rest for retired horses, a fundraising page has been set up to raise vital funds for the place she loved so much.

So far, more than £2,300 has been raised in her honour.

An emotional Facebook post written from the perspective of her beloved horse Teddy described Angie and "very brave and beautiful".

It reads: "The humans here say she was the heart and soul of this place and I think they’re right.

"Everyone will always remember how funny she was and how clever and what fabuloso cuddles she gave. She was one of a kind, my Super-Mummy.

"No pony loved his Human more and all the other Humans here wanted me to say that they all loved you too and you were very brave and can rest now.

"I think my heart is breaking and I don’t think it’s the only one."

The post added that Angie would now be reunited with three of her favourite horses who had died previously - Warwick in 2015 and Mr Twister and Sam Slick in 2016.

The post prompted an outpouring of tributes from those who knew Angie.

Sarah Fountain said: "Sorry to hear about Angie, she was there when I was there in 2003, very well respected and the horses loved her."

Caroline Burrough said: "I am very sad to hear of Angie's passing. She was a lovely woman with a wealth of knowledge. So patient with the horses. I had the pleasure of working with her back in 2003 during summer break from university. We had such a laugh."

Wendy Allnutt added: "So heartbreaking. Angie was such a sweet wonderful human being. I enjoyed working with her all those years ago. Ride free Angie."
